Corinne EvansVice-President (External Relations)


Corinne is Vice-President (External Relations) and is responsible for marketing, communications and external engagement with key stakeholders in the local community and beyond.

She works with her team to support the University’s strategy through enhancing the University’s reputation for world-class research, generating compelling coverage on media and social media, supporting the University’s student recruitment efforts and building stronger staff and student engagement through effective internal communications.

Before she joined the University of Bath in 2016, Corinne was Head of Media and External Relations at the British Red Cross following a 15-year career in the third sector working for humanitarian, environmental and conservation charities. Having started her career in government relations, she has a particular interest in bringing together disciplines to create strategic, integrated campaigns.

In 2021 the University of Bath launched its Bath Beacons initiative supporting a culture of grant capture for large-scale funding to tackle major research challenges, aligned to the University’s priority research themes of Digital; Sustainability; and Health and Wellbeing. Five Beacons have now been approved for the one-year pilot and two early-career researchers have been supported to develop towards a future Beacon. These beacons were:

  • Sustainable and automated transport research
  • Living well now and by 2050
  • Future fuels: hydrogen and its carriers
  • Augmented human
  • 21st century public health

University of Bath performed strongly in the 2021 Research Excellence Framework (REF). The REF is the UK’s system for assessing the quality of research in UK higher education institutions. Ninety-two per cent (92%) of University of Bath research submitted to the Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2021 achieved the two highest classifications of ‘world leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’.

In addition, 90% of the University’s research outputs (e.g. journal articles, books, and patents) was rated ‘world leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’ for its reach and significance. In terms of having an environment that supports research, 98% of submitted research activity was graded as ‘world-leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’.
