The Times Higher Education’s definitive list of the top 100 most powerful global university brands of 2015 was released yesterday. An offshoot of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, this reputation league table is based on the subjective but expert judgement of senior, published academics. This year over 10,000 academics from 142 countries contributed their views on research and teaching excellence to this invitation-only survey.
Reputation is fast moving and universities are constantly forced to evaluate their actions, friends and audiences. Maintaining a world-class reputation is not only an indicator of current success it is a means of securing investment and attracting the very best scholars and students.
America dominated this year’s league table with 42 inclusions, 25 of which ranked in the top 50. The UK had the second highest representation with 12 institutions in total.
4 W100 members ranked in the top 20; University of Chicago, University of Toronto, UCL and University of Michigan with a further 11 in the top 50 and top 100 respectively.
