About Lund University

Lund University is ranked among the top 100 universities in the world. They tackle complex problems and global challenges and work to ensure that knowledge and innovations benefit society. Lund provides education and research in engineering, science, law, social sciences, economics and management, medicine, humanities, theology, fine art, music and drama.

Founded in 1666, the Lund campus reflects the University's history, with magnificent buildings separated by cobbled streets and green spaces, but also its vision for the future with, for example, one of Sweden's largest science parks located close to the campus and the MAX IV facility and the planned ESS European spallation source.

The University has three campuses located in southern Sweden, in the cities of Lund, Helsingborg and Malmö.

 

International Partnerships

Lund University are an international university with global recruitment. They cooperate with 600 partner universities in over 70 countries, including exchange agreements with these, and are the only Swedish university to be a member of the strong international networks LERU (the League of European Research Universities) and Universitas 21.

Notable Research Areas 

Two of the world's foremost research facilities for materials research and life sciences are established in Lund - the synchrotron radiation facility in MAX IV, which was inaugurated in June 2016, and the European Spallation Source (ESS) which will feature the world's most powerful neutron source when it opens for research in 2023. These will be of decisive importance for materials and life sciences and for industrial development. 

In Lund, Medicon Village has also been established and offers a unique environment for life sciences; integrating research, innovation and enterprise creates the conditions for improving health and quality of life. .
